Application guide — sizing, models and mounting advice from the manufacturer
Medical and laboratory equipment has to roll quietly across a ward or a lab, protect the floor, and then stand absolutely still while it is in use. A leveling caster gives you all three: a soft, quiet wheel for moving, a fixed foot for operating, and a low profile that keeps the unit stable.
Imaging, laser alignment, microtomy and any calibrated measurement all need the equipment not to move. Winding the pads down lifts the wheels clear and stands the unit on fixed feet — no drift, no vibration, no rock.
Soft polyurethane or TPE treads roll quietly on vinyl and tile and do not leave marks. Hard nylon wheels are cheaper but noisy and they scuff soft flooring.
Low center of gravity models mount almost flush, which keeps a tall cart or a trolley-mounted instrument stable and preserves the working height.
A simple bracket with an accessible wheel makes it practical to clean the floor and the equipment base in a clinical environment.
Medical and laboratory equipment is usually light but top-heavy. A monitoring cart with instruments runs 80–150 kg, so DC-40F at 50 kg per caster is right for a light trolley and DC-60F at 250 kg gives a generous margin on a heavier one. Large imaging or sterilisation equipment can reach 500–1,000 kg and needs DC-80F or DC-100F. For anything tall and narrow, prioritise stability over capacity: a low center of gravity model such as DCU-80 or GXB-60 keeps the wheel inside the base footprint and the unit much harder to tip.

Soft polyurethane or TPE for wards and laboratories: quiet, non-marking and kind to vinyl and tile. Nylon where the equipment moves on hard floors and cleanliness of the wheel matters more than noise. Either way, choose the pad to carry the load in use, so the wheel is not standing under a load and does not take a set in the same spot.
