Japanese Low Center of Gravity Casters

Japanese-style heavy low center of gravity casters — 300 kg to 600 kg per caster, factory direct

A Japanese low center of gravity caster is a heavy-duty swivel caster built with the mounting plate and wheel mounted as close to the floor as the design allows. Because the load sits low, the equipment is far harder to tip than it would be on a tall general-purpose caster of the same capacity. DancyCastor has made this style since 2003 in four configuration families — DCRA, DCRC, DCRN and DCRS — across three wheel sizes, for a total of twelve models from 300 kg to 600 kg per caster.

All twelve use a nylon wheel and a pressed-steel housing with a hardened swivel raceway. Nylon is the right choice for most factory floors: it does not mark, it is quiet, it resists water and most oils, and it carries high point loads without flat-spotting under a parked machine.

The four configuration families

The letter after DCR tells you what the caster can do. This is the single fastest way to narrow twelve models down to the one you need.

Prefix Motion Brake Mounting Choose it when
DCRA Swivel, 360° Integrated side brake Top plate You need to park the machine and be sure it will not roll.
DCRC Rigid (fixed) — Top plate You want straight-line travel and maximum stability — pair with swivel models.
DCRN Swivel, 360° Integrated side brake M16 × 30 mm threaded stem Your equipment leg already has a tapped hole — no plate, no drilling.
DCRS Swivel, 360° — Top plate The most economical option when a brake is not required.

Load figures are per caster. A set of four shares the load, which is why the four-unit figure is quoted separately — use it as your starting point, then read the sizing note below before you commit to a model.

How to size a Japanese caster correctly

The single most common mistake we see in RFQs is buying on the catalogue number instead of on the moving load. Work through these four points before you pick a model.

1. Count the casters that actually carry the load

A three-point arrangement carries on three casters, not four. If the machine has four casters but the frame can rock, assume three are carrying at any moment.

2. Add the dynamic factor for moving loads

A caster rated 600 kg is rated for a static load. Once the machine is pushed over a floor joint or a doorway threshold, the load on the leading caster spikes. For equipment that is moved regularly we recommend keeping the calculated load at or below roughly 70 % of the rated figure.

3. Match the wheel to the floor

All twelve models use nylon. Nylon is hard and carries high point loads, so on a smooth concrete or epoxy floor it rolls easily. On an unfinished floor with chips or swarf, a hard wheel can catch — if that is your environment, tell us and we will quote the same housing with a softer wheel.

4. Decide plate or stem before anything else

Plate mounting needs flat, drilled equipment legs. Stem mounting (DCRN) screws into an existing tapped hole and is often the only option on tubular or cast frames.

Buying direct from the factory

DancyCastor is the export brand of Zhejiang YongKang Dancy Machine Co., Ltd in Yongkang, Zhejiang — China’s hardware manufacturing base. Our story begins in 1995 in a family metal-casting workshop, and we have made casters since 2003. We hold CE certification, and RoHS and REACH test reports are available on request. Sample orders start from 4 pcs; OEM runs (custom wheel colour, custom stem length, your own brand on the housing) from 5,000 pcs per model. Goods ship from Ningbo.

Send us the equipment weight, the number of casters, the mounting type and the floor condition, and we will come back with a model recommendation and a quotation — usually within 24 hours.
