Application guide — sizing, models and mounting advice from the manufacturer
A fully loaded tool cabinet is one of the densest things in a workshop — and one of the most likely to roll away, tip or flatten its own casters. Leveling casters solve the lot: roll it where you want it, wind the pads down and it is a fixed cabinet with four solid feet.
A cabinet sold as mobile is usually delivered with casters rated for the empty weight. Fill it and the wheels flatten, the swivel binds and the cabinet starts to lean. Leveling casters carry the load on a pad, not on the wheel, so there is nothing to flatten.
Pull a fully loaded drawer out on a wheeled cabinet and the whole thing moves — or tips. With the pads down it cannot.
Low center of gravity models mount almost flush under the base, so you do not lose the top of the cabinet to a tall caster stack.
Work at a vice mounted on a mobile cabinet and every push is a tipping force. A fixed pad removes the movement, not just the roll.
Work out the loaded weight, not the empty weight. A large roll cabinet stuffed with hand tools, sockets and power tools runs 400–800 kg. Over four casters, with a 50% margin, that points at 300–500 kg per caster — DC-80F at 500 kg. Very large boxes on a heavy frame go up to DC-100F at 750 kg or DCT-80 at 1,100 kg. If the cabinet is top-heavy (tall unit, heavy top drawers) prefer a low center of gravity model over a higher rating.

Nylon is the right choice on a shop floor: it does not mark, it resists oil, and it rolls easily when the cabinet does have to move. Polyurethane is quieter if the cabinet lives on a tiled or epoxy floor near an office. Avoid soft rubber under a heavy cabinet, because it takes a set and leaves flat spots.
Yes, and it is usually worth doing. Measure the bolt pattern of the existing casters and the cabinet corner weight, then send both to us. If the original bolt holes do not match, a top-plate caster can usually be re-drilled to suit, or we can supply a plate pattern that matches.
From 150 kg to 1,100 kg per caster in our range. For a typical full-size loaded roll cabinet, DC-80F at 500 kg per caster gives a comfortable margin.
They can be similar to the casters you are replacing, or lower. Our low center of gravity ranges are designed to keep the mounting height down — tell us your target height and we will match it.
A leveling caster does not need a brake for stability, because the pad takes the load off the wheel and the cabinet cannot roll. If you also want a locking wheel for moving over slopes, we can supply braked models from our Japanese series.
